The original idea was to have Faith (played here by Casey) miss a jump between two buildings, with Lakitu fishing her out of the chasm. Then it turned into Lakitu fishing out her corpse, before turning into Faith running into a mirror from a mirrored perspective (kinda hard to explain), before finally settling on what you see here. Making webcomics is tough."
